What we do

CarVouch provides two types of used car checks for UK buyers:

  • Free scan: Analyses DVSA MOT history, DVLA vehicle data and advert text to identify potential issues. Returns a 0–100 risk score, MOT timeline, mileage consistency check, advert red flags and DVLA cross-check. No account needed.
  • Full Vehicle Check (from £9.99): Adds Experian provenance data (finance, stolen, write-off, keeper and plate history) plus the full AI narrative, seller questions, viewing checklist and PDF report. Protected by the Experian £20,000 Data Guarantee for 12 months.

We also offer free tools: Car Match (AI used-car model recommendations), car tax check, road tax calculator, fuel prices, fuel cost calculator and recall check.

Data sources

CarVouch uses three official data sources:

  • DVSA MOT history API: Complete test records, vehicle make and model, advisories, defects, pass/fail dates and odometer readings (Open Government Licence v3.0)
  • DVLA vehicle registration data: Tax status, make, year of manufacture, colour, fuel type, engine capacity, CO2 emissions, MOT status (Open Government Licence v3.0)
  • Experian provenance data: Finance, stolen, write-off, keeper history, plate history (Full Vehicle Check only)

Important: DVLA data does not include keeper history or plate history. Those come from Experian and are only available in the Full Vehicle Check.

How the AI works

AI reads MOT tests, advisories and defects, mileage readings and advert wording to produce a written assessment. The verdict is "worth viewing", "view carefully", "negotiate strongly" or "avoid", with a 0–100 numerical score.

The AI analysis is included in the free scan (summary) and Full Vehicle Check (full narrative).
